EDITOR IN CHIEF

My senior year of high school, I served as Editor-in-Chief of the Blueprint. I was responsible for leading the staff. During class I promoted and lead class discussions, helped brainstorm new ways of improving our paper, edited and approved articles, and made sure the entire staff was able to do it's job effectively and smoothly. I was also responsible for the Freelance Program and Journalism Club, which gives students outside of the staff an opportunity to publish their work and enabled our paper to promote an even wider range of content. As a leader, I made an effort to make sure the paper was at its strongest by helping the writers find their strengths and interests, and then giving them the space, guidance, and support to create their very best content. The paper's strongest feature was the students who were apart of it, so as an Editor-in-Chief, I believed my job was best done when every step of the content was carried out by students.

MANAGING EDITOR

I served as Managing Editor for the Blueprint as a junior in my first year on staff. As Managing Editor, I was responsible for both our Freelance Program and Journalism Club. I was constantly trying to bring in new articles, writers, and perspectives to our website through our Freelance Program. Within the club, I encouraged members to learn how to write in a style they are unaccustomed to, as writing for a newspaper is incredibly different from what you learn in your average English class. The search for new voices that will diversify our content was at the core of my job as Managing Editor, and continues to be a key part of my current job as Editor-in-Chief.
